Queen’s Park 2024 The 11th Moira’s Run
We had more than 450 sign-ups, lots of supporters to cheer them on, and what felt like an all-star cast, what with an energetic warm up and a jig to Colin’s specially selected music, a team of superb clowns, accomplished runners taking part alongside first timers, and our celebrated guest star, our dear Patron, Elaine C Smith, who had everyone in fits of laughter immediately she took the mike.
The sense of togetherness which is always much in evidence is so strong, it is heart-warming. We have so many to thank for that – Rodger McEleney with all those volunteers who year after year come to willingly do their bit with him, before, during and after the run in all sorts of ways, ensuring a challenging route for the serious runners and smooth safe journey through our beautiful Park for all-comers: Linsey Burnett who coordinates the whole caboodle, the registration before and on the day, and with the help of our sponsors and more volunteers, organizes the provision of all the goods and services required so that it all goes like clockwork and it certainly did. We thank all those sponsors – our main sponsor Victim Support Scotland and their lovely team from Support for those Bereaved through Crime and all our other hugely generous sponsors and volunteers– Migo Sports. Loo King, Britvic, Tunnocks, Church on the Hill, Camphill Bowling Club, Police Scotland Youth Volunteers, Bellahouston Harriers, Queen’s Park Park Run.
All at the Moira Fund appreciate so much the contribution of those sponsors and the many volunteers, named and unnamed, who, along with all those warm and friendly runners and walkers, old and young, make our event possible. We are enormously grateful too, to all those who have sponsored runners or walkers or made donations directly to TheMoira Fund. The financial generosity shown by so many is amazing as is the generosity of spirit in evidence throughout. That keeps us going, that’s for sure.
Last words. We had with us on Sunday some of the families we have helped in some way over the years, families who want to pay back by helping us to help other families like them. That means a very great deal to us. We were more than pleased to see them.
