A Helping Hand from The Moira Fund

We have received many many requests for help in recent months and thankfully have been able to respond positively to each one.

Jimmy and Ella lost their daughter to murder and are now bringing up their 4 grandchildren in very difficult circumstances. Money is extremely tight and they became even more stressed when they realised school uniforms needed to be purchased as well as warm outer clothing and shoes for winter. The Moira Fund made sure they had vouchers to cater for these needs.

Jenny is now the single mum of two daughters. She lives in a very rural area. Her partner was the driver in the family and so it is now difficult to get out of the village, to access shops, family, friends, activities. She is determined, however, that her girls won’t miss out, that she must do her best for them, that she will learn to drive. The Moira Fund has provided a starter course of lessons.

The bereaved mum of a baby and a toddler, Sandie, is on Universal Credit, and when her aged fridge-freezer broke down there were no savings for a new one. She just didn’t know what to do. When we were contacted by her support worker we were able to reassure her, and she is delighted with her new one.

Simon lost his wife and daughter and could not return home as it was the scene of crime. He couldn’t go to work and so lost his job. He was struggling with funeral costs, with everything, and was particularly anxious about floral tributes for their funerals. The Moira Fund was pleased to help.

Becky is a full-time student. She had a part-time job to help with her finances but had to give this up when her father was murdered. She was very distressed that she had no money for flowers for her dad. We understood how important that was to her and we made sure that she had the help she needed.
