Zurich Ironman 2011 Paul Hill has successfully completed the amazing, gruelling Zurich Ironman event for The Moira Fund. In spite of sustaining a knee injury early in his training, Paul swam 2.4 miles, cycled 112 miles and then ran a 26 mile marathon, in 12.42 hours. How exhausting is that? How superb is that? We are just amazed, Paul, and hugely grateful. We thank you for your wonderful efforts and for all the sponsorship you raised. Thank you. You can see the photos of Paul via the link below. Paul's bib number was 1619. More Information |

Tayside Fire Board Member's “Triathlon” Moira's aunt, Helen Oswald, who is a member of Tayside Fire and Rescue Board, took on three challenges, her personal triathalon for The Moira Fund: a Pole Drop; Driving a Fire Appliance; The Water Rescue. Helen completed all three challenges, even being dropped in the River Tay, with her usual aplomb and she enjoyed the Pole Drop so much she had a second go. Helen raised much welcome publicity and much money for The Moira Fund. A huge thank you, Helen. You can still sponsor Helen via the link below. More Information |

Cycling The Outer Hebrides Grant Jones cycled the length of the Outer Hebrides, approx. 100 miles, for The Moira Fund. He cycled south across Lewis and Harris, then after a ferry trip he cycled through North Uist, Benbecula and South Uist. Extra to his itinerary, Grant then sailed to Barra and cycled around that island before returning to the mainland. He expected to be pummelled by wind and rain but the weather was kind. He was, however, blown away by the beauty of the islands. Thank you, Grant, for your efforts and for all the money you raised. There's still time to sponsor Grant, see below. More Information |

Virgin London Marathon Many congratulations and thanks to Roland Strange who has completed his, and The Moira Fund's, first London Marathon in a very commendable time of five hours. Roland says he "didn't realise it was so far and how sore your legs and feet become" but thoughts of Moira and the Fund kept him going. He asks us to thank all his generous and thoughtful sponsors, those online as well as those who have pledged money offline. Well done, Roland! |

Fancy Dress Evening What a wonderful success this evening was! The Flintstones were there, Indiana and Cruella, Robin Hood, Maid Marian, Snow White, Lady Gaga and many more. The Mill at Stone was a lovely venue. The buffet was delicious, the atmosphere warm, the disco popular and the money raised was superb. We thank all who came and joined in the fun and give a huge thank you to Kate and Peter Ward and the Ward family for organising this event, for all their support, thoughfulness and generosity. |
